It is my pleasure to recommend my friend and colleague Richard Sher to you. Richard and I grew up playing and studying the cello together at the Pre- College program of the Juilliard School and entered the "Upper School" together in 1965. After one year Richard made a bold decision. He joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Soon after he became the principal cellist of the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra at which time he also taught at Washington University and again moved when he became the cellist of the Vermeer String Quartet in residence at Northern Illinois University at DeKalb.
Richard's enviable achievements in his career and his artistry make perfect sense: he has a beautiful and natural gift for playing, a highly developed ear and a refined musical personality. In addition he has a full knowledge of the solo, chamber and orchestral repertory gained from experience and careful study. He is a musician who can inspire those around him be they students or professionals. In my opinion Richard Sher can handle any musical task.

This is to warmly recommend Mr. Richard Sher.
I have know Richard Sher for more than 30 years, and as he was the original cellist in my quartet, The Vermeer Quartet, I was able to work with him as well as observe his teaching skills.
Richard is an excellent cellist, and an outstanding musician and teacher; moreover I have always admired his integrity towards his fellow musicians, his students, as well as towards the music itself.
It is with pleasure that I recommend Richard; if I can be of further assistance, I shall be delighted to assist in any way I can.

This is my letter of support for my friend and colleague Richard Sher. His credentials are impressive and largely speak for themselves, but I can add my additional endorsement of his uncommonly high artistic values. He is a cellist with a poetic and profound vision. He is a highly seasoned and sensitive chamber musician whom I have had the pleasure of playing with on many occasions for pleasure as well as profit. He is well known and highly regarded in the musical community and deserves to be given the highest consideration in all his professional pursuits.
